  5.      * * * INFORMATION CONCERNING COUNTRIES AND PREFIXES * * *

  7.   Any  country  or  prefix  changes  to  the  database  since  the
  8.   specified ARRL  DXCC list are noted in the "Latest Changes" item
  9.   in the Main Menu.
  10.   
  11.   Updates for  the latest  countries information  are available by
  12.   contacting the  programmer -  VK2VN. Registered  users  will  be
  13.   notified only of major upgrades to the actual program.
  14.   
  15.   As of  release v.1.13  Ham Log contains three "Germany's". These
  16.   have been changed with regards DXCC status and as such I suggest
  17.   you look  at all  your old  "Germany" QSOs  and ensure  they are
  18.   attributed to  the correct  Germany. The country notes show when
  19.   the country  was deleted  or the dates from which QSOs are valid
  20.   for DXCC.

  23.          * * * COUNTRY AND PREFIX DATABASE INFORMATION * * *

  25.   Old, deleted  countries are still included in the database. This
  26.   allows you  to enter in contacts you had in the past, when those
  27.   countries were valid DXCC countries. Their original prefixes are
  28.   also included (preceded with two asterisks).
  29.   
  30.   Countries that  still exist  and valid  for DXCC,  but have  had
  31.   their main  prefixes changed  present a  slight  problem.  These
  32.   prefix changes  may have  resulted from  political changes.  The
  33.   ARRL has  given them  new prefixes  rather than  delete them and
  34.   "create" a  new country.  An example is Mozambique which had the
  35.   prefix CR7, and now it is C8 and C9.

  37.   These old  prefixes have had to be deleted from the database for
  38.   two reasons.  Firstly, it would mean that current DXCC countries
  39.   would show  prefixes that were no longer valid, and two, in many
  40.   cases these  old prefixes  have been  re-issued to  other (often
  41.   "new") countries.

  43.   Those wishing  to add  old contacts  with current  countries but
  44.   with old  "expired" prefixes, need to manually apply the correct
  45.   country to  the QSO. This is easily done from the F2 facility at
  46.   the QSO menu.
